Places where kids get to be kids.
For kids. Designed by grown-ups who think about everything. That's the whole idea, and it's a bigger idea than it sounds.
Why we exist
Most backyards are designed for adults and then a playset gets dropped in a corner. Most playgrounds are designed for institutions and then scaled down. Neither one is designed for a family: for a two-year-old and a nine-year-old and their parents, all outside at once, all with something to do, all in a yard that still looks like it belongs to a nice house.
KidScapes exists to design that yard. We're not a playground equipment dealer, a landscaping company, a pool builder or a contractor, though we do all of those things. We're a design-build studio that starts with the kids and works outward: what they love, how they move, how fast they're changing, and where you'll sit while they do it.
What we believe
Build a better childhood.
Not as a slogan. As a design brief. A kid with a creek to dam, a wall to climb and a hill to roll down has a different childhood than one without. We think that's worth building carefully.
Kid‑first design. Parent‑approved details.
Kids think about the slide. Parents think about the landing surface. Every feature we design has to satisfy both, and when there's a conflict, the landing surface wins.
Playful doesn't have to mean ugly.
A family yard should raise the value and the look of the house, not read as a daycare from the street. Natural materials, real landscape design, structures that relate to the architecture.
Design for the next ten summers.
Kids change fast. We plan yards that change with them, on the same footings, without tearing everything out every five years.
Say the true thing.
We don't say "100% safe" or "non-toxic." We say what a surface is rated for and what a finish is made of, and we hand you the documentation. Precise beats reassuring.
Where we work
Colorado's Front Range, from Fort Collins to Colorado Springs, including the foothills communities. We design for this place: 5,000-plus feet of altitude, intense UV, afternoon hail, expansive clay, freeze-thaw, water rules and HOAs. A backyard here isn't a backyard anywhere else, and we'd rather be very good at this one.

Does it make a kid curious?
Does it look like it belongs to a beautiful home?
Does it still work in five summers?
Can you see it from where you sit?
What's underneath it when they fall?
Would we build it for our own kids?
We redo it.
